Through the efforts of Jeffrey's sister, Dorrene Lynn Pierce, a great number of original U.S. records have been found which identify Jeffrey's family of immigrant ancestors, including the parents and six of their nine children.  Following the data contained in those records, we then had the good fortune to discover the family's home in Ireland by way of baptismal records for five of those six children.  Baptismal records were also found for three additional children who did not accompany the family to America.  y One of the three had already married and made a home in Ulster.  The remaining two presumably had either also married and remained behind or had died young.  Regrettably, William himself has not been found in any original record which clearly reveals his dates of birth or death.  The lack of such records is accounted for in part by the paucity of Irish genealogical records of that period and in part by William's untimely death within a very few years of emigrating to New York.  Precisely where William was born also is unknown, but he is found in County Fermanagh from 1825 to 1832, in County Monaghan from 1835 to 1837, and again in County Fermanagh from 1840 to 1842.  Furthermore, an older William Lynn, who very likely was his father, died in 1847 in the same townland where this William lived in 1842.

Historical Account

Over the course of the entire period during which William's children were baptized - 1825 to 1842, the family moved several times.  Records place them in various townlands as follows [see "Third Generation" for additional details] ...
